Collecting herbs and flowers

Collecting plants is permitted throughout the Park, except for Nature Reserve Areas (Zone I). In general certain season restrictions may apply for a number of plants. Any collection of plants from Nature Reserve Areas is expressively forbidden. For further information, please contact the National Park or the Forestry Dept. During the season of flowering—ripening, the collection of herbs (tea, melissa, oregano etc), linden blossom (tisane) and elderberry is limited to ½ kg per person per day and a total of up to 2 kg per season. During collection, please cut only the part of the herb that is above ground (stem) and in case of linden and elderberry, please collect only the flowers and avoid breaking off branches.
It is forbidden at all times to collect any plant species of orchids (salep) and lilies (Lilium genus).
Remember that in the area of the National Park many medicinal plants are grown. The properties of medicinal plants were known and used by the inhabitants of the region and especially by famous medical practitioners, so-called “Viko-Doctors” who had been collecting plants responsibly.
